If one combines the total number of Democratic Party and Republican Party primary voters in each zip code area, Republicans comprised 50% or more of the voters in 62 zip code areas. While, Democrats comprised 50% or more of the voters in 80 zip code areas.
The population demographics for each zip code are provided as a reference, to consider how race and ethnicity may be related to voter participation. In viewing the Hispanic population data, one should understand that the statistic is not indicative of electoral strength. According to the latest Census, in Harris County, Hispanics comprise 44% of the population. However, according to the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey released in 2019, Hispanics only comprise 29% of the CITIZEN VOTING AGE Population (CVAP). That Population to citizen voting age population ratio should be applied when calculating the Hispanic potential voting strength in a zip code area.
The median household income for each zip code area is also provided to consider how it may impact voter participation.
